Six places motion graphics earn their keep

Animation frames on a timeline

Motion graphics are animated text, shapes and illustrations — think explainer videos, animated logos and the moving captions on social media. They are cheaper than live filming, easy to update, and work well on small screens.

1. Explaining a product in 60 seconds

If customers keep asking the same questions about how your product works, a short explainer can answer them before they call. Put it on your homepage, landing pages and sales emails.

2. Social media that stops the scroll

Movement catches the eye in a busy feed. Short, captioned clips of 15 to 30 seconds — sized vertically for Reels, TikTok and WhatsApp Status — consistently outperform static images for reach.

3. An animated logo

A two-second logo animation gives every video you publish a professional opening and closing, and makes presentations feel polished.

4. Events and stage screens

Conferences, product launches and church services all use screens. Animated backgrounds, countdowns and lower-third name captions make an event look well produced.

5. Onboarding and training

Short animated guides help new customers set up a product, or new staff learn a process, without a person repeating the same explanation every week.

6. Showing data

Numbers that animate into place — growth charts, impact figures, before-and-after comparisons — are easier to understand and remember in annual reviews and investor decks.

Keep it short: plan the message first, then the animation. If the script is not clear, no amount of motion will fix it.
